HOUSE REPUBLICANS INTRODUCE NEW TAX BILL TO HOBBLE MIDDLE CLASS

Will #TaxScam2 Allow Vern Buchanan to Buy Another Yacht?

SARASOTA — House Republicans introduced their latest tax breaks for the wealthy, once again benefiting millionaires, billionaires and rich corporations at the expense of working Floridians. The budget-busting deal is expected to cost $2.8 trillion — more than the first #TaxScam, which cost $2 trillion. According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, tax cuts for the richest 1% will average $32,650 — while the bottom 60% get an average of $340, or less than $1 per day. To pay for the massive giveaway to the wealthy, Republicans will propose cutting Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and other necessary services that benefit the middle class.

Floridians for a Fair Shake Communications Director Stephen Gaskill issued this statement:

“Once again, House Republicans and the Trump administration are pushing a massive giveaway for those who don’t need it. The latest #TaxScam shifts trillions of dollars to millionaires and billionaires, and leaves average Floridians scrambling to deal with cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. How will Congressman Vern Buchanan, who is notably silent on how he benefited from the first tax break, vote on this bill? Will he buy another multimillion dollar yacht, to sail away from his angry constituents when they discover he’s sold them out again?”
