LET’S CELEBRATE WITH VERN BUCHANAN ON THE ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF HIS $2.1 MILLION TAX BREAK AND THE PURCHASE OF HIS MULTIMILLION DOLLAR YACHT!

SARASOTA — One year ago today, the #TrumpTax, officially known as the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, was introduced in the House. Congressman Vern Buchanan would go on to vote for the bill on November 16, giving himself a $2.1 million tax break. Buchanan celebrated by purchasing a multimillion dollar yacht that same day, which we later discovered was made possible by a loan from a foreign bank that lobbied him on the tax legislation.
Floridians for a Fair Shake Communications Director Stephen Gaskill commemorates the occasion:
“We offer a hearty congratulations to Vern Buchanan for keeping his head held high all this time despite his very obvious self-serving vote to line his pockets. One year on — it’s party time! To keep the atmosphere light, we won’t talk about how most Floridians receive no benefit from the tax law, or that the top earners are the ones raking in the cash. And we won’t mention Vern’s votes to take away health care and repeal protections for pre-existing conditions. That’s no fun! Who wants to hear about things like that when you’re partying on a yacht?”
While we don’t know for sure how Vern is celebrating the anniversary of his big money haul and his big boat, we’ll be reminding voters of it. Floridians for a Fair Shake will fly a plane banner over the Bradenton and Sarasota Farmers Markets from 10am to Noon Saturday, reminding voters that Vern Buchanan gave himself a $2.1 million tax break and bought a multimillion dollar yacht on the very same day using a loan from a foreign bank. The banner reads “VERN GOT A YACHT. WHAT DID YOU GET? VERNSYACHT.COM“
