ONE YEAR AGO TODAY, HEALTH CARE ADVOCATES ACROSS THE COUNTRY STOOD UP TO ONGOING REPUBLICAN EFFORTS TO REPEAL AND UNDERMINE THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT
On One-Year Anniversary of the Senate Vote To Repeal and Undermine The ACA, Congressmen Vern Buchanan and Brian Mast Continue Ongoing Efforts To Sabotage the Health Care of Working Florida Families
Sarasota —On the one-year anniversary of the Senate vote to repeal and undermine the Affordable Care Act, Floridians for a Fair Shake is highlighting Congressmen Vern Buchanan (FL-16) and Brian Mast’s (FL-18) record of sabotaging the health care of working Floridians.
Just this week, the Center for American Progress (CAP) released a report showing increased health care premium costs for families across the country. The report finds that in the United States, a typical family of four and older couples will see an average premium increase of $3,000. In Florida’s 16th Congressional District represented by Vern Buchanan, a typical family of four will see an average premium increase of $2620. In Florida’s 18th Congressional District represented by Brian Mast, a typical family of four will see an average premium increase of $2750.
In response, Floridians for a Fair Shake Communications Director Stephen Gaskill released the following statement:
“Florida families are seeing their health care premium costs go up as a direct consequence of Congressmen Vern Buchanan and Brian Mast’s votes to undermine and repeal the Affordable Care Act,” said Stephen Gaskill, communications director of Floridians for a Fair Shake. “On Saturday when he hands out free pie, Congressman Buchanan should explain to his constituents why he supports policies that make it harder for working Florida families to have access to affordable health care.”
