TRUMP AND VERN BUCHANAN ARE LYING ABOUT THEIR POSITIONS ON PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS

THEIR ACTIONS BELIE THEIR WORDS — THEY ARE GOING TO REMOVE PROTECTIONS FOR 7.8 MILLION FLORIDIANS WITH PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS
SARASOTA — Coverage for pre-existing conditions is one of the most successful and popular features of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and Republican sabotage of the bill has made removal of those protections a real possibility. Floridians know that, and that’s why President Trump and Congressional Republicans like Vern Buchanan are saying those protections will remain — despite their efforts to remove them. Dozens of votes to repeal the ACA, coupled with the anti-health care lawsuit in Texas, highlight the fact that Republicans are lying about their allegiance to protecting coverage for pre-existing conditions. Buchanan was called out for it in last night’s debate with David Shapiro.
Floridians for a Fair Shake communications director Stephen Gaskill puts it in perspective in the following statement:
“While Florida voters are already going to the polls, Republicans are waking up to the fact that everyone in the US has or knows someone who has a pre-existing condition. Now, President Trump and his crony Congressman Vern Buchanan are claiming they’re for preserving coverage for pre-existing conditions, despite vote after vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act, whose most popular feature preserves such coverage. Here’s the bottom line: Vern Buchanan voted to take away pre-existing conditions protections from 7.8 million Floridians, including more than 273,000 of his own constituents. For him to suggest otherwise is a lie.”
